•Imagine an America where biblical beliefs were targeted, where you were told that you could not teach your children, or your congregation, what the Bible teaches. Pay attention to any attempt to hinder the freedom of the press, speech, and religion, because if we allow these, we invite and guarantee real, potentially permanent, persecution.

•Ask God to help you understand why maturity in Christ, not just knowing him as Savior, is so important in loving, honoring, and worshiping him. Ask him to give you a heart to help others be mature too.

•A person whose life goal isn’t to become mature in Christ won’t care much about Christlike maturity developing in others. What does your concern (or lack of concern) for the ability of others to mature in Christ say about your pursuit of Jesus Christ? Are you really interested in maturing in Christ to the greatest possible degree and helping others do the same?

•When it comes to standing up and speaking out for God, keep the words of the apostles in mind, that we must obey God rather than people (Acts 5:29).
